While DAV Auxiliary units actively participate in programs such as Americanism,
Community Service, Junior Activities, Legislative, and VAVS (refer to the DAV Auxiliary
Manual for details), two national programs rely on mandates and generous donations
for special member assistance – Service Support Program and Education Loan Program.
This program was established to assist those who find they are temporarily unable
to meet outstanding financial obligations such as utility bills, mortgage payments,
hospital bills, etc. One-time financial assistance up to, but not more than, $1,000
is available to Auxiliary senior members of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary
who meet the established criteria. Assistance is limited to one grant per household.
This program is funded by national mandates, but most importantly by the generous
donations of our members, local units, and state departments. Without this funding
the program would not exist and hundreds of members would not have benefited in
their time of need.

Since 1931, the DAV Auxiliary has provided interest-free loans to life members of
the DAV Auxiliary who are furthering their education at a college, university, or
vocational school. Those full-time students who meet the established guidelines
may obtain up to $2,500 per year and part-time students could receive up to $1,250.
Repayment in monthly installments is not due until graduation or withdrawal.
Funding for this program comes from a designated portion of mandates paid by units
and state departments, but it has been the generous support of our donors that has
provided the opportunity for continued education. We all can truly make a difference!
